Thank you for choosing to purchase one of our HL Doberman puppies. We are committed to providing you with a healthy, well-socialized Doberman, and this contract is written to protect the health and well-being of the puppy as well as the rights and responsibilities of both the Breeder and Buyer. We are here to support you throughout your Doberman’s life. Please reach out with any questions.
Non-Negotiable Terms
- UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES is this Doberman to be sold, given, or surrendered to a pet store, animal shelter, rescue group, puppy broker, or similar establishment.
- UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES is this Doberman to be used in any form of dog fighting or similar activity.
- If Buyer is unable to care for the dog at any point, Seller must be contacted immediately. The Breeder will take the dog back or assist in rehoming. No refund is offered in this case, but proper rehoming will be provided.
Initial Health and Veterinary Requirements
- Puppy must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of pickup/delivery. Proof of this exam must be sent to the Seller within 14 days. If not provided, this contract becomes null and void. Exams performed by non-approved veterinarians also void this contract.
- Seller guarantees the puppy to be in good health at the time of transfer. A vaccination and deworming record will be provided. If Buyer fails to maintain scheduled vaccinations and the Doberman contracts a preventable disease, this guarantee is void.
- Seller is not responsible for common or environmental conditions such as hypoglycemia, coccidiosis, stress from travel, diarrhea, worms, mites, mange, or other parasites.
Health Guarantees
One-Year Infectious Disease Guarantee If the Doberman dies from Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, or Leptospirosis before 12 months of age, Buyer must:
- Notify the Seller immediately
- Provide veterinary documentation and necropsy report
- Return all registration papers
A replacement puppy of equal value will be provided (shipping at Buyer’s expense). All vaccines must have been administered as scheduled by a licensed vet.
One-Year Congenital Defect Guarantee If a congenital defect is diagnosed before 12 months of age, Buyer must:
- Notify the Seller immediately
- Provide documentation from two licensed veterinarians
If the puppy dies, necropsy is required. If not, the puppy may be kept, but registration must be returned, and proof of sterilization provided. A replacement puppy will be offered at no cost (shipping at Buyer’s expense).
One-Year Hip Guarantee Dobermans are guaranteed against crippling hip dysplasia for one year. If diagnosed:
- Submit x-rays and reports from two licensed veterinarians
- Return registration and provide proof of sterilization
Guarantee is void if joint issues result from injury, poor nutrition, or abuse. Replacement puppy offered; Buyer pays for transportation.
Care and Nutrition Requirements
Buyer agrees to provide appropriate shelter, diet, and vet care, including:
- Annual exams
- Routine deworming
- Flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
- Full vaccine series at 9, 12, and 15 weeks
- Monthly heartworm treatment
For the health guarantee to remain valid, Buyer agrees to feed a primarily raw diet (80% raw meat, vegetables, approved fruits) for the first year of life. This diet is recommended throughout the dog’s life for optimal health.
Spay/Neuter and Registration
Show/Breeding-quality Dobermans are not sold with full registration by default. If you are interested in breeding rights, you must request full registration separately, and we will evaluate your request and discuss the terms. No breeding is permitted without prior written authorization from the Breeder. Females may not be bred before their second heat, and any unauthorized breeding will be considered a breach of contract.
All Dobermans must include “HL Doberman” as the prefix of their registered name (e.g., HL Doberman Petrus). The use of our kennel name is only permitted with our explicit authorization, and is required to preserve the integrity of our bloodline.
Temperament, Socialization, and Responsibilities
- Temperament is not guaranteed, as it is heavily influenced by environment, socialization, and training. Buyer agrees to provide proper feeding, exercise, training, and socialization. Seller is not responsible for any damage caused by the dog at any age.
- Complications from ear cropping, aftercare, or taping are not covered by this contract.
- Minor health concerns curable by medication or surgery are not covered.
Returns and Legal Terms
- If the Doberman dies within 24 hours of purchase, a necropsy must be performed by a licensed vet. If cause of death is linked to conditions existing before purchase and proof is provided, a replacement puppy will be given (shipping at Buyer’s expense). No cash refunds.
- This contract is the entire agreement between Buyer and Seller. No verbal modifications are valid unless documented in writing and signed by both parties.
- Violations of this contract constitute a breach of agreement, and legal action may be taken, including reclaiming the dog. Any legal disputes shall be resolved in the jurisdiction of the Seller.
